Gov Inhabitun appoints 1,200 political assistants to deepen the basic democracy – Thage

The Governor of the State of Ogun, Dapo Inhabitun, has appointed 1,200 political assistants to strengthen basic democracy and improve civil commitment throughout the state.

The special councilor of the Governor for the media and strategy, Kayode Akinmade, said that the appointments were part of the efforts to deepen democratic participation and expand access to the dividends of democracy.

He explained that the assistants, five for each of the 236 State departments, would have contributed to filling the gap between the government and the people by articulating the needs of the community and guaranteeing feedback flows in both directions.

“Political assistants must support the delivery of democratic dividends, articulate the needs of their respective departments and communicate these needs to the state government.

“It is also expected that they provide accurate feedback from the government to the departments and vice versa,” said Akinmade.

He observed that the initiative has fulfilled the electoral promise of Governor inhabitaun to bring all the department to the development programs of his administration and to manage an all-inclusive government that enhances citizens’ contributions to model policies.

The state government has urged the appointed to contribute significantly to the growth and development of their departments, local advice and the state of Ogun in general.
