Gov Oborevwori warned the Chairman of the Delta Council for the Increased feeling of insecurity

The Governor of the State of Delta, Sheriff Oborevwori, has issued a strong ultimatum to the head of the local government, warning that anyone who shows weaknesses or negligence in dealing with insecurity in their jurisdiction is at risk of moving from positions.

Speaking in Asaba on Monday, the Governor expressed deep concern over the surge of criminal activities, especially kidnappings, in several parts of the country. He stressed the important role of local government leaders in maintaining law and order, calling for direct and sustainable actions.

“If you are weak as chairman of the council, we will delete you,” Oborevwori said.

He condemned the current trend of violence and urged the leaders of the community, residents, and youth to cooperate with law enforcement agencies and vigilantous group groups instead of fanning tensions online.

“Reports are insecure, especially kidnapping, are still common. This is very disturbing, and I urge our young people not to use social media and make incitement but to collaborate with security agents and local residents to deal with kidnappers and other heinous crimes in their community,” he said.

Oborevwori stressed that security must be a collaborative effort, calling for the chairman of the council to become proactive and fully involved in handling crime in their territory.

“Security is a shared responsibility, and as the chairman of the council, you campaign to win the election, and you must know your environment very well. Members of the House Council and Commissioners from each local government; we all must do our best to ensure that we have increased peace and security in various regions of our local government,” he said.

He also appointed infiltration of criminal elements from neighboring areas as a deteriorating factor and announced plans to take advantage of technology to fight crime in the near future.

“Insurance in the state has been exacerbated by the entry of unwanted elements from neighboring countries, especially from all Niger. Soon, we will mobilize technology to help detect and involve all these criminals damage the peace of our beloved country,” Oborevwori said.

He reminded the chairman of the council regarding their responsibility to hold a regular local security council meeting and maintain direct communication channels with state authority.

“I really hope that the Chairperson of our Regional Government Council, who is the Head of their Regional Government Security Officers, must hold their security council meeting regularly and give me direction through the Commissioner for the Regional Government or give me direct direction.”

The governor warned that the chairman of the algon and executive members would be held accountable if the chairman failed in this task. He also urged collaboration with traditional institutions to curb increased social crime.

“As a governor, I manage all the traditional rulers in the state. So if I can manage everything, you can also manage traditional rulers in your respective regional government.”

He concluded with a hard message about the consequences of self -satisfaction.

“Look at the level of crime in our society today, our children like drugs and all kinds of social crimes. So, you need to check what is happening around you. We will not take all forms of weaknesses from any chairman. When we use one or two people as an example, others will sit.”
