The governor of the governor of the state of Edo on Monday Okpebholo has restored the monthly subvention of N100 million to the University of Edo Iyamho, who was withdrawn by the immediate past administration of Mr. Godwin Obaseki.
Gov Okpebholo, represented by the commissioner for energy and water resources, dr. Washington Osifo revealed him to the sixth ceremony of calling the institution and said that the governor was willing to increase the money in the nearest future.
“The monthly subvention of N100 million was initially withdrawn by the past administration and the governor deemed wise to restore the money so that the institution can work well,” he said.
While congratulating the direction for keeping the vision of the university and parents for believing in the skills of the teachers in guiding their departments academically, he ensured the establishment of the commitment of the state government to guarantee a better instruction for the people of the State.
Previously, the deputy chancellor actor, Prof. Dawood Egbefo, said that 570 students graduated from the institution.
“This year we proudly celebrate the degree of 570 students in various disciplines, a testimony of the dedication of our institution to excellence.
“Among these graduates there are 14 first-class honors, 145 second class honors (upper division), 190 second class honors (lower division), 35 third class honors, 46 graduates in medicine and surgery, 140 post-laurels, including 20 doctoral recipients,” Egbef said.
Congratulating the graduates and wishes them well their future efforts, he urged them to carry on the values of excellence, integrity and innovation that the University of Edo Iyamho has instilled in them.
“This is not the end of your journey, but the beginning of a new chapter full of infinite possibilities. Embraces the challenges with confidence.
“He continues to learn and grow and, above all, remain committed to having a positive impact in the world.
“The future belongs to those who have dared to dream, innovate and work tirelessly to achieve their goals,” he said.
The acting VC observed that education was a transformative journey, stating that these graduates had shown that with discipline, perseverance and the right support, excellence was reachable.
“Edo University, Iyamho has constantly tried to provide a learning environment that meets global academic standards.
“One of our most important results is our adoption of cutting -edge educational technologies that improve teaching and learning,” he said.
He expressed gratitude to the government of the Edo State for his unwindable supporter rendered at the University.
However, he appealed to the state government to help university complete incomplete projects in the institution.
Highpoint of the ceremony was the assignment of an honorary doctorate at the former governor of Edo and Senator who represent Edo North Adams Oshiomhole and Vincent Agency, president of the Freedom Group of Nigeria for their illustrious careers and contributions to the development of Nigeria.
