Governor Fintiri supports a rotating presidency and opposes competition in North Korea in 2027

Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri has voiced strong support for the principle of a rotating presidency ahead of the 2027 elections, and stressed that it would be South Korea’s turn to lead.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily on Tuesday, Fintiri stated: “There is no business for anyone in the north to hold the office of president at the moment. Now it is the turn of the south; they must complete their eight-year term, if we are truly serious about this country. This government must rotate so that we will all be brothers’ keepers.”

The governor, who recently left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to join the All Progressives Congress (APC), argued that while anyone has the constitutional right to contest, justice and national unity demand that the presidency remains with the South.

Among those eyeing the presidency is former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, also from Adamawa State, who has switched from the PDP to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to pursue his long-held ambition.

Fintiri however supported incumbent President Bola Tinubu, saying: “If there is no other candidate, we must support Bola Tinubu GCFR to complete his term. After all, he has done so much. He initiated good policies that are working, which give us a light at the end of the tunnel.”

When asked about his relationship with Atiku, Fintiri replied: “I still have it, it’s nothing bad. It’s just that everyone has taken their political path. I am today in APC, they are in another party.”

He stressed that Nigeria’s stability should guide political decisions, and reiterated that the presidency should remain in the South until Tinubu completes his term.
