Group denies the call, Matazu, supports the plot of corruption to protect the former boss of the NNPC Kyari from the probe

Abuja (basic reporter) The Corod Citizens Against Corruption (CCAC) has officially denied his converse, his partner Kabir Matazu, following his sudden withdrawal of accusations and asks for the investigations of the former CEO of the National PetroLeum Company Limited (NNPCL), Kyari Mele.

In a declaration issued on Thursday and signed by the Secretary General of the coalition, his partner Moses Okino, the group accused Matazu of acting under external influence and betraying the fundamental values of the movement.

Ccac said that powerful interests with the ties with Kyari’s mandate have orchestrated a corruption campaign to whitewash his record.

“We, the leadership of the citizens interested against corruption, categorically affirm that Kabir Matazu acted alone. His press conference that withdraws our petition was not only unauthorized but shameful. It was an act of betrayal,” said Okino.

“Our coalition has not been consulted. There has been no meeting, no consent. We have all the reasons to believe that Matazu was compromised and his actions were influenced by monetary incentives intended to derail our anti -corruption campaign.

“We received relationships that James Ume moved from a position in office, calling activists, by pressing with money and promises – all to ensure that the mandate of Mele Kyari is not subject to public investigations.

“What happened with Matazu is not an isolated accident. It is part of a wider plan to intimidate and financially co -ops every item that requires transparency. But we are not all for sale.”

Matazu had Thursday, during a press conference in Abuja, announced that the protest of April 23 led by the coalition was “hasty” and “misleading”, claiming that the group had misunderstood the legal structure of NNPCL as a limited liability company. He also praised Kyari’s leadership and withdrew all the previous accusations.

But Okino described Matazu’s statements such as “a complete reversal of months of research, planning and verified tests”, adding that the original petition of the group was supported by the intelligence of informants and independent investigations.

“We did not come to the light of our conclusions. Our accusations against Mele Kyari were based on solid information on suspicious transactions, rehabilitation funds of the refineries, chords exchanged raw and irregularities of the contracts under his clock,” said Okino.

“For Matazu waking up one morning and saying that it was all a misunderstanding insults our collective intelligence and undermines the credibility of the work of civil society in Nigeria.”

He said that the coalition immediately established a disciplinary committee to investigate Matazu’s conduct, with the possibility of expelling it from the group and making his discoveries public.

“Nobody is above responsibility, not even our convocator. Matazu has embarrassed this coalition and will face the consequences of his reckless and suspicious behavior,” added Okino.

Ccac reiterated his original request for the commission for economic and financial crimes (EFCC) and the office of the attorney general to probe the mandate of Kyari.

He insisted that public resources must be accounted for, especially in a strategic sector such as oil.

“If Kyari really has nothing to hide, he should accommodate an open probe. The attempt to come across the public investigation raises only further questions on the scale of the bad financial conduct under his leadership,” said the group.

“We remain engaged in truth. The Nigerians deserve answers, not the press conferences organized by individuals who have been purchased to rewrite the story.

“We owe this country more than silence. Matazu’s actions will not derage us. If nothing else, they have strengthened our determination. This struggle no longer concerns only Kyari; it is a question of defending the soul of the anti -corruption defense in Nigeria.

“We urge the Nigerians to ignore the retraction of Matazu. It was not made in good faith. It was the product of despair by people who fear the truth.”

The coalition ended by inviting other groups of civil society, unions and guard dogs to be vigilant against infiltrations and corruptions, warning that “the enemies of transparency will stop in front of nothing to protect their own”.
