Gunmen attack military checkpoint in Ebonyi

Gunmen in the early hours of Friday attacked a military checkpoint at Amangwu axis on the Amasiri-Owutu-edda highway in Edda local government area of ​​Ebonyi State.

State police spokesman Joshua Ukandu confirmed the incident to journalists in Abakaliki.

He said: β€œInformation reaching us from the Owutu Police Division revealed that some hoodlums attacked a military checkpoint on Friday morning.

“It is not yet certain whether there were any casualties. The attack was carried out by armed men who were believed to have been riding motorbikes in the area.”

Ebonyi and other states in the Southeast have experienced several attacks on security agents in the past three years with about 100 officers killed during the period.
