Gunmen kidnap Chinese national, kill five security officers in Kogi

Gunmen reportedly kidnapped two Chinese nationals at a mining site in Zango Town on the outskirts of Lokoja, Kogi State, on Monday.

They also killed five security agents in the attack.

The dead were three members of a truth advocacy group and two mining site staff.

Eyewitnesses told reporters on Wednesday that the attackers stormed the site in large numbers and directly attacked the expatriates.

They were also involved in a gun duel with security forces.

However, a state police spokesperson had not confirmed the incident at the time of filing this report.
