Gunmen kidnap former Delta education commissioner

Gunmen on Tuesday kidnapped former Delta state Commissioner for Technical Education, Joan Onyemaechi.

The state police spokesman, Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident to journalists in Asaba.

He said Onyemaechi was kidnapped at his church along DBS road in the state capital.

The attackers shot dead a policeman close to the former commissioner while another was seriously injured.

The injured police officer is receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital in the state.
