Gunmen kidnap judge, wife, driver in Borno

Gunmen on Friday kidnapped a judge at the Borno State High Court, Haruna Mshelia, and his wife in the state.

The couple was kidnapped along with their driver and orderly along the Biu-Maiduguri road.

Spokesman of the state police command, Daso Nahum, confirmed the news to journalists on Tuesday in Maiduguri.

He said police officers were pursuing the kidnappers.

The spokesperson said: “On June 21, 2024, at around 09.00, His Honor Judge, his wife, officers and driver were kidnapped along the Biu-Maiduguri Road, precisely in Jiba town.

“On reaching Jiba town, some unknown armed men stopped them and abducted them along with two other commuter vehicles. So they were taken into the bush.”

“We are working with other security agencies to rescue the victims,”
