He is the future of Super Eagles- Chelle praise the new defender ahead of friendly Russia

The head coach of the National Senior team of Nigeria, Eric Chelle, has asked the protection of the young defender of Brentford, Benjamin Fredrick, qualifies him as the future of the team.

Chelle gave him at age 20 his complete debut in the final game of the Unity Cup against Jamaica, and delivered a five-star performance with Nigeria to win the 5-4 tournament in penalties after a 2-2 draw in the regulation time.

Fredrick, who initially was not on the list of guest players for the tournament, but a route was given to the team due to the game of Ahmed Musa and the late arrival of Uche Chisantus, was included once again in the team for the game against Russia as a reward for its performance.

Analyzing his performance, Chelle said the defender who was voted as the player of the club U23 of the club has what is needed to be the future of the team.

“I can say something we need to protect it (Fredrick) because he played well and the reality is that he continues to improve and work hard and we need to protect him because this is not the end,” Chelle said in London’s interview with Austin Okon Akpan.

“He is the future of the national team and I think he made a great game, but the reality that we granted two goals. This is the reality. He is a good player, but we took two goals and his first role is to defend.

“He has a lot of quality about technical skills. It’s fast! So good, boy! Good boy, a good boy and a good player,” he concluded.
