CoUnited Premier Movement (UPM), Hon. (Chapter) Olalekan Shoyinka, he warned the political actors in the state of Ogun against the transformation of politics into a “cash and carry company”, warning that the future of the state could be mortgaged if the ideology continues to give way to money policy.
Shoyinka, popularly known as Ayinla EGBA, made the call in a declaration entitled “The future that we must protect-a project for the policy led by ideology in the state of Ogun”, which concluded its reflection in three parts on the political direction of the state.
According to him, Ogun’s policy is rapidly losing his moral compass since “popularity now overcomes the purpose, generosity is exchanged for the governance potential and the money involves more weight than credibility”.
He underlined that no political culture can survive without ideological clarity, the discipline of the party and generational thought, warning that the state “was dangerously close to full -blown transactional policy”.
“What does the Yayi field represent beyond the massive spending and strategic influence? If we cannot return our policy to ideology, we will continue the rotating candidates who serve the elite while they leave the masses behind,” he said.
Shoyinka has challenged the party elderly, especially in the All Progressives Congress (APC), to resist the financial incentive and federal incentive and when they determined the sponsorships in view of the 2027 elections.
He asked them to reflect on how their decisions would have modeled Ogun’s future, warning that the story would not forgive leaders who “sacrifice tomorrow for temporary comfort”.
“This is not just another electoral cycle; it is a decisive moment. What you do now will immortalize your name in the book of inheritance or the stain in the book of betrayal,” he said.
The Upm call has also urged the residents of Ogun, in particular young people, craftsmen, public employees, students and market women, not to sell their votes for the Empowerment token or the tributes.
He said that the permanent electoral card (PVC) should be treated as a “signature on the leadership contract”, urging citizens to ask difficult questions about the paths, the vision and ideology of the candidates.
Highlighting the objectives of the UPM, Shoyinka explained that the group has committed to support leaders that embrace the candidacy based on merit, transparent governance, youth empowerment beyond slogans, equity in the allocation of resources and long -term investments in education, health and industry.
He stressed that the movement was not interested in “setters dressed with money and masking ambition as generosity”.
While the electoral approach of 2027, Shoyinka warned that the decisions taken in the coming months would echo for generations.
“The governments come and come, but the decisions remain. You will be remembered as a patriot who represented something bigger, or as stakeholders who sold tomorrow for the crumbs today? The story is looking at. EGBA is looking at. Ogun State is watching,” he concluded.
