Hosting Afrobasket will drive our economy – Loc

The Local Organizing Committee (LOC) of the FIBA FIBA Afrobasket Championship in progress has expressed its confidence that organizing the tournament will significantly benefit the economy and sports development of Ivory Coast.

Speaking outside the competition, the director of competition, Coulibaly Soungemane, said that the tournament has already brought a positive impact, attracting tourists and promoting local economic activity.

“The Afrobasket is not just a sporting event; he is an economic driver,” said Coulibaly, former coach of the national ivory team.

“We have seen a notable influx of tourists, and the enthusiasm of fans who attend games show how much the event is contributing to both the awareness of the economy and the basketball in our country.”

He pointed out that the growing interest in basketball among young people is a promising sign for the future of sport.

“With so many children looking at matches at the Palais des Sports, we are sure that this will inspire the next generation of basketball players in Ivory Coast.”

Coulibaly also emphasized the importance of maintaining the legacy of the tournament.

“We are committed to ensuring that the four basketball courts used during the championship are maintained properly after the event. Investment in infrastructure and public interest is something we want to preserve.”
