Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has condemned what he calls hypocrisy and selective anger in Nigeria’s political discourse, after a react reaction to his new meeting with the former President of Muhammadu Buhari.
In a very strong statement on Friday, Atiku maintains his rights to be involved with political figures in all party lines, questioning why his actions were examined while similar movements by other opposition leaders were praised.
“When PDP leaders are busy sipping tea and mediates forces with President Tinubu, it is called a strategic alliance. But when I greet Peter Obi, El-Rufai, or visit Buhari, it becomes a national emergency,” Atiku said. “Hypocrisy and selective anger have never been this fashionable.”
The former presidential candidate, who has become the center of new political attention in the midst of the degree of the Democratic Party (PDP) of the people, said he did not have hatred of members who deserted to the Congress of All Progressive (APC), which emphasized that the freedom of the association was the corners of democracy.
His comments followed the division of the Governor of the State Delta Sheriff Oborevwori, former Governor of Ifeanya Okowa, and Federal MPs Oluwole Oke to the ruling APC, an increasingly intensified step of concerns over the internal cohesion of the PDP ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Atiku rejected criticism about his political meeting, showing that similar actions in the past were part of the efforts to develop a coalition that strengthened the opposition.

“Don’t rewrite history,” he said. “Buhari is a significant statesman in the Nigerian political landscape. During the 2013 Merger, the opposition leaders consulted broadly including Obasanjo and Babangida. So why is the anger now?”
He warned not to be disturbed by the arranged narrative that seeks to frame involvement as a betrayal, while others get bait to do the same.
“This is not the time to manipulate,” said Atiku. “The real problem is not who visits who, but the failure of leadership under the current government. Nigeria faces difficulties, and what we need is a unity of goals, not cheap politics.”
Frame the 2027 election as a battle for the future of Nigeria, Atiku calls for a focus on credible and national survival, not a small division.
“This moment is about collective survival. The enemy is actually not to each other – it is a bad failure of the Tinubu government,” he said.
