‘I gave him back to him, Sen Nwebonyi defended clashes with Ezekwesili

The session of the Senate Ethics Committee in Abuja took an unexpected turn on Tuesday as the Senator Onyekachi Nwebonyi, representing Ebonyi North, was involved in fierce exchanges with the former Minister of Education, Dr. OBY EZEKWESILI.

The session, which was intended to investigate the accusations of sexual harassment involving the deferred senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan from Kogi Central and the President of the Senate Godswill Akpabio, quickly spinned into verbal clashes.

Tension peaked when Nwebonyi looked nervous, calling Ezekwesili as “insult to femininity” and “Hooligan.” His statement arose after the previous exchange where he claimed the former minister first insulted him.

Speaking of today’s politics, a television program channel, Nwebonyi defended the explosion, insisted he only responded well.

“It began when he was asked to take an oath as a witness. He refused. I declared my willingness to be inaugurated and provide evidence. While I spoke to the chairman, he turned to me and said, ‘Will you close your mouth? You are a hooligan,'” He told.

Senator stated that his reaction was justified. “For a grandmother, former Federal Republican Minister, to tell a senator who sits to shut up and call him a hooligan – how is it fair?” He asked.

Apart from the controversy, Nwebonyi did not declare regret. “I respect him as a woman, but I give it back to him,” he said firmly. “How can I regret the scenario? Ask first whether the behavior is fair.”
