Aston Villa manager Unai Emery has a key issue to address before the summer transfer window closes and that is landing a striker to replace star forward Ollie Watkins, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
Emery has so far spent the most money in the current summer transfer window of any English Premier League club, but the area of a backup striker has yet to be addressed and the manager is interested in a proven and experienced player in the league.
He also wants a striker who will not mind playing second fiddle to Watkins and that is why he has contacted Nigerian international striker Kelechi Iheanacho, who is out of contract at Leicester City.
Iheanacho is available on a free transfer and ticks the right boxes for the type of striker the manager has in mind, given the fact he has filled that capacity for Leicester over the years as understudy to Jamie Vardy.
According to Birmingham Live, contacts have already been made with his agent, but they are currently considering offers from other teams, in particular from the recently promoted Ipswich Town to the English Premier League.
