Ibas moves to renew Rivers State – Media owned houses

The administrator of the State of Rivers, the Deputy Admiral IBOK-ETE EKWE IBAS (RTD) has reaffirmed the unshakable commitment of his administration to revitalize the media organizations of state property and make sure that they meet the modern operating standards to serve the public.

The commitment came, on Monday following a large inspection tour of the main media institutions, including States State Television (RSTV), Radio River FM, The Tide Newspaper, Garden City FM and State Printing Press.

Deputy Admiral Ibas, who described the media as indispensable for the survival and development of the company, said the need for an urgent intervention to restore these critical platforms.

“Without the media, we wonder how the company would survive. We must identify the key areas that require intervention and ensure that our media houses work on the standards provided by the public.”

By highlighting the fundamental role of the media in promoting good government and informed citizenship, the administrator has declared that his administration has already established plans for the updates of the structures.

“If funds are available, I assure you that within six months we will complete the necessary improvements. I directed the permanent secretary, the Ministry of Information and Communications, to develop a global plan, exploiting the provisions in the budget.”
