Iheanacho scores at the end of the winner in the Celtic debut

The Nigerian striker, Kelechi Iheanacho, came out of the bank to score a dramatic winner for Celtic in his Scottish shock of the Premier League against Kilmarnock.

The first half was relatively quiet, with both sides locked in a dead point without goals.

Japanese striker Daizen Maeda broke the point in the 57th minute, but Kilmarnock replied late through David Watson, who attracted the level of hosts in the 83rd minute.

Kilmarnock tried to see the raffle, but the disaster hit the detention time when the ball touched Lewis Mayo inside the box.

Var gave the penalty and Iheanacho took a step forward, sending Max Stryjak in the wrong way to win it for Celtic.

Manager Celta Brendan Rodgers was full of praise for the Nigerian striker, especially his composure under pressure.

“I was really satisfied with Kels,” Rodgers said. β€œI think the last penalty he received was for me in Wembley, when we beat Man City on the community shield.

“That is a great moment for him, especially with the followers and everything else. He still had to score him, and he did it, and he won the game.”

“There is no doubt that he has great moments in him, and once he gets fit, he will only improve. Our usual penalty maker was out of the field.”

“I think Benji wanted to take it and I had the confidence, which is great. But my message was clear, I had to be Kels. I know what it brings, and I know what a goal does like that for his trust.”

The result sends Celtic back to the top of the Premier League Scottish with 13 points, ahead of Hearts in the goals difference.

Next, the Scottish champions face Park Thistle in the League Cup before traveling to Serbia for a crash from the Europa League against FK Crvenna Zvezda.
