Ikpeba urges calm in the middle of lookman – Atalanta transfer saga

The former Nigerian international, Victor Ikpeba, has intervened in the ongoing transfer drama that involves Adela Lookman and Atalanta.

Lookman, 27, enjoyed a brilliant 2023/24 campaign that saw him take Atalanta to the glory of the UEFA Europa League, scoring a hat-trick in the final against Bayer 04 Leverkusen.

His excellent season was later rewarded with the AFRICAN CAF Award of the year.

However, tensions seem to have emerged between the Nigerian hierarchy and the club, with reports that suggest that a possible exit is on the cards.

Despite that, Ikpeba believes that Lookman should handle the situation patiently.

“These things happen in football. At the end of the day, the clubs are owners of the players, they call the shots,” Ikpeba told Brila.net.

“Lookman and Atalanta had a beautiful relationship. They won a trophy and was crowned African player of the year. But as in life, some marriages end badly.”

The former eagles of the Eagles de Super urged the player to remain professional and composed in the midst of the uncertainty surrounding his future.

“I do not know the complete story, but I think that your representatives and a nearby circle should advise you to keep calm and handle things correctly. You should not stop training. It is always better to separate from the good terms to maintain the relationship. It is already a legend in Atalanta.”

Lookman scored 20 goals in all competitions for Atalanta in the 2024/25 season, continuing his good way despite the growing uncertainty about his long -term future in Bergamo.
