The IMO state commissioner for sports development, Hon. Obinna Onyeocha, expressed the readiness of the state government to collaborate with the Kelechi Anuna Foundation and other organizations engaged in sports development in the state.
Hon. Onyeocha made him known when the former Nigerian international and founder of the Kelechi Anuna Foundation, Kelechi Anuna, made him a courtesy visit to his office in Owerri.
The commissioner praised the basketball star born to the height from the area of the local government IMO Mbaitoli for his continuous contribution to the growth of sport and the youthful empowerment both in Nigeria and abroad.
“I am struck by what Kelechi Anuna is doing through its foundation. The state government will continue to collaborate with individuals and organizations that share our vision of discovering and nourishing young talents”, Hon. Onyeocha said.
In his observations, Anuna, a businessman and sports manager based in the United States, has committed himself to exploiting his vast network and relationships with Nigerian and international sports personalities to attract investments in the sports sector of the IMO State.
He underlined that the subsequent phase of the activities of its foundation in the state would have focused heavily on the basic sports development, which described as the “foundation of future champions”.
Anuna has further reiterated its commitment in creating opportunities for young athletes throughout the state through training, tutoring and international exposure programs.
The partnership is expected between the Ministry of State of State Sport of the Soul and the Kelechi Foundation will strengthen the discovery of talents and improves sports infrastructures throughout the state
