The edition of the debut of the Youth Marathon soul nicknamed Running for Peace will shake the city of Owerri, the capital of the state of the soul this Saturday 10 May 2025 with the winners both in males and female insured of N500,000 each of the other consolation cash prizes.
The IMO youth marathon packaged by the Ministry of Youth and Hunt of the talents led by Emeka Mandela Ukaegbu aims to allow young people to improve their fitness level while it is rewarded by what will benefit their bodies.
The commissioner for hunting for young people and talents, Emeka Mandela Ukaegbu said that the IMO youth marathon with the slogan in the race for peace is another first from the government of the Imo State led by the governor hopes that Uzodinma to ensure that the young IMOs are committed to distracting them from nefarious activities.
Ukaegbu has confirmed that all young IMOs who would like to participate in the marathon must register online and make sure they get index numbers that will make them suitable for running on Saturday.
But that those without internet access can still participate if they come to the Ministry of Youth, the Extension Secretery Extension of State Owerri, in front of Heroes Square on Thursday and Friday between 9:00 and 15:00 to be captured in the physical recording before the Saturday race on Saturday.
“All those who are not able to register online, we are given the opportunity to register physically. For those interested in joining the peace marathon that can come on Thursday and Friday, which is 8 and 9 May to register and still participate in the marathon on Saturday. They can come from 9:00 to 15:00 to be able to register freely”, has disclosed UKAEGBU.
“To take part in the IMO youth marathon, you will be indexed with a number. Without it, you will not be allowed to run. Those interested in participating should come and take that number of index during physical recording at the Ministry of Youth, Extension of state secretory Owerri, opposite to Heroes Square Square because on Saturday morning without duly recorded for the marathon race they will not be authorized to do.”
By revealing what the prizes for the youth marathon of the Sabbath would be, Ukaegbu observed that both the male and female winners will collect the same amount of money and N500,000 each while there are other consolation prizes from the second to the 20th position.
“The winners will be in two categories: female and male. The first male/ female to reach the finish line will receive N500,000 while there will be other consolation prizes for cash for the second to 20 to get to the finish line,” he concluded.
The Marathon race will begin at the IMO government house on Saturday morning with the runners crossing Wetheral Road, among others, internal roads before ending the race in Heroes Square.
