In the midst of continuous violence, the Mutfwang stakeholder meeting offers a little hope for the highlands

After a series of murder in the State of the highlands, Governor Caleb Mutfwang held a meeting with critical stakeholders on Monday, a step that according to critics offers a little real solution to a sense of insecurity for decades that disturbed the country.

Speaking at the event, Mutfwang stated that the meeting was aimed at “forming ways to overcome repeated attacks and the destruction of property in the state.” However, for many residents, this meeting is a pattern of familiar reactive action that consistently failed to stem bloodshed.

The governor, who acknowledged that “security challenges in the state have been going on for more than two decades,” explained that the meeting also aimed at uniting critical stakeholders to end the threat. However, the need for such meetings after years of violence underlines the inability of the government who is persistent to ensure the safety of its citizens.

While Mutfwang condemned that “insecurity has caused a serious threat to the prosperity of the highlands,” his praise to the Tinubu Ball President for the steps taken to overcome the security challenges that have holes for those who have witnessed the loss of lives and sustainable livelihoods.

“Right since the Jos Market was burned until now, you will find that even food production at Plateau has declined,” Mutfwang said. “Recently, we take stock of agricultural land that cannot be developed by our people because trying to cultivate agricultural land is the risk of their lives.” This striking acceptance highlights the in -depth impact of the ongoing insecurity, raising questions about the effectiveness of past and current security strategies.

“There is no part of this state that does not have a sense of insecurity, so we must gather together as people to overcome this problem,” urged the Governor. “This is why we call you all here, so we can rob our minds and find lasting solutions to security challenges in our beloved country.” However, recurrent calls for unity and dialogue have produced a slight practical improvement in the safety of the highlands.

Mutfwang asks stakeholders to be open and make positive suggestions that will cause eternal peace in the state. But for many people, the time for advice has long passed, and concrete actions are what is needed.

The meeting, which then entered a closed door, including former Governor of Fidelis Tapgun, Joshua Dariye, Jonah Jang, and Retired Young Admiral Bitrus Atukum, along with the services and former senators, members of the DPR representatives, traditional leaders and religions, government officials, and youth and female groups.

The presence of these prominent figures highlighted the long history of the crisis, but the nature of the cycle of this meeting without a clear breakthrough offers a gloomy view for lasting peace.
