Mobile court sentences 17 traffic offenders on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway

No fewer than 17 motorists have been convicted for various traffic offenses along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway, as authorities step up enforcement efforts to curb reckless driving and improve road safety.

The convictions were obtained by the Federal Road Safety Corps, Ogun State Command, during a mobile court sitting on the Ogere axis of the busy highway.
Spokesperson for the command, Odunsi Afolabi, revealed in a statement issued in Abeokuta on Wednesday that all violators were brought to court and found guilty of several traffic-related offences.
According to him, the mobile court hearing, presided over by magistrate OS Fadahunsi, saw the immediate conviction of the 17 culprits, with no acquittal recorded.
Afolabi explained that the exercise was part of the force’s sustained efforts to instill discipline among motorists and ensure safer highways.
He said: “A total of 17 offenders were charged with various traffic violations. After the presentation of evidence and their admission of guilt, the court convicted them all.”
Also speaking, the Ogun Sector Commander of the FRSC, Akinwunmi Fasakin, said the command would support rigorous enforcement operations to reduce road accidents and ease traffic flow, especially along the Ogere corridor.
Fasakin warned motorists against violating traffic rules, stressing that the mobile court will continue to penalize violators.
He urged road users to obey traffic laws, stressing that compliance remains vital to safeguard lives and property on the nation’s highways.
The Ogere axis of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway is a major transit route linking the South West to other parts of the country and is often plagued by congestion and traffic violations.
