While Nigeria celebrates 65 years of independence, dr. Nnami Ejekwumau (Udongalasi) invited the people of the federal college of Asiazu/Ezinihitte and the wider Mbaise nation to use the opportunity as a moment of reflection and renewed commitment to collective progress.
In his message of goodwill, Dr. Ejekwumau observed that independence goes beyond the annual celebration, describing it as “a reminder that our strength lies in our unity, in our sector and in our ability to transform challenges into opportunities”.
He praised the laborious spirit of the people of Mbaise – farmers, merchants, craftsmen and professionals – expressing the concern that the benefits of governance and development have not always achieved the base. According to him, more attention must be paid to improving community life.
Dr. Ejekwumau underlined the importance of enhancing young people with skills and opportunities, guaranteeing mothers access to quality health care and providing fathers and families with reliable infrastructures such as good roads, electricity and markets that support local trade.
It has also highlighted the need for sustainable development through industrial and economic initiatives that can create jobs and reduce dependence, underlining that true independence will be carried out when progress is coherent and inclusive.
“While we celebrate the day of the independence of this year, undermine every son and daughter of Mbaise to maintain faith with the vision of a stronger and more united community. We are committed to courage, unity and responsibility shared in the construction of the election college and the Nigeria of our dreams,” he said.
