In the final phase of the APC’s campaign in the districts, governorship candidate Senator Monday Okpebholo visited Udaba Ward 8 in Etsako Central, promising a radical transformation for the area.
Addressing the lively crowd, Okpebholo, who calls Udagba his home, highlighted his plans to link Ugboha to Anegbette, an initiative he discussed with his mentor, Adams Oshiomole. He vowed to tackle insecurity, improve healthcare, provide soft loans to market women, revive mechanized agriculture and recruit new teachers, outlining a broad agenda aimed at revitalizing Edo State.
At the rally, former Governor Adams Oshiomole recalled a 2016 warning by the Honourable Donald Osikhena about the fitness of Governor Godwin Obaseki, which he said had proven accurate. Oshiomole assured the crowd that Okpebholo would not forget the communities of Udagba, Osomegbe and beyond, promising that he would be disappointed if Okpebholo did not keep his promises.
Reflecting on his past campaign, Oshiomole recalled his vehicle breakdown on the way to Anegbette and his subsequent promise to build the road, a promise he kept as the journey from Ugbekpe Ekperi now takes less than 20 minutes. He assured the people that the Udaba-Osomegbe road would also be completed under Okpebholo’s leadership.
Oshiomole further highlighted the appointment of several individuals from Ekperi communities during his tenure as governor, underlining his dedication to the region.
Honourable Donald Osikhena, former Commissioner of Oshiomole, said Ward 8 of Etsako Central is firmly secured for the APC. State Assemblyman Honourable Ahmed Waziri commended Okpebholo as a principled leader who will continue Oshiomole’s legacy, expressing gratitude for the construction of the Anegbette road.
Former state assemblyman Damian Lawan expressed confidence that Udaba would yield significant results for the APC and urged the party not to neglect the Udaba-Osomegbe area. Former Etsako Central chairman, Honourable Joseph Ughioke, also thanked Oshiomole for his infrastructural contributions and assured the APC of victory in the forthcoming elections.
