Pit Latrines have existed for many years. In fact when i was growing up a few persons in my village still had them in their compound intact and functional. They all were constructed with wooden or in a few cases concrete seats. These seats were constructed in such a way to ensure that persons using them would not have to squat down low to relieve themselves. They were 2 feet length * width* height boxed or cube shaped . This therefore allowed the sick, handicap and aged people the luxury of relieving themselves without assistance. The only additional enhancement that was purchased which was attached was a modern Toilet seat cover. This comes in two parts; namely the seat and the cover. If not then a decent wooden seat/cover was created by the carpenter to cover the hole in the box. Squatting down low for an aged person in 2025 should not be recommended. Mama Austin and others are not getting younger please keep that in mind.

Hello Wuod Otenga 👋🙏! You could consider the squart toilet made of special plastic called SATO Toilet: It opens itself with a push of either a short or long call & once one is done with doing their thing, just a little water 💧 is poured to clean it with its auto plastic cover closing itself to keep flies away! You can find out about it in hardware shops at Kitere Centre, Rongo, Kisii or Ksm (where u don't find it in either of the places)! Meantime, do keep-up the wonderful work
