Investors gained N147 billion as equity markets started the week on a high

The equity market opened the week well as investors gained N147 billion by the end of trading on Monday.

This follows the soaring prices of shares such as Conoil, Legend Internet, and Omatek, among others, on the stock exchange floor.

The benchmark All-Share Index (ASI) index increased to 197,196.97 points from 196,968.15 points on the previous trading day.

After five hours of trading on the capital market, equity capitalization rose to N126.5 trillion from N126.4 trillion recorded by the exchange on Friday.

Market breadth was negative, with 26 stocks rising, 43 declining, and 78 unchanged in 86,488 transactions.

A total of 762,526,298 shares were traded worth N31.2 billion.

Conoil, Legend Internet and Omatek led the gainers chart, with share price growth of 10% each, closing at N185.90, N7.04 and N2.42 per share, up from N169.00, N6.40 and N2.20 per share.

Aluminum Extrusion, Scoa and RT Briscoe led the rest of the price declines with price drops of 10%, 9.90% and 9.87% respectively to close at N13.95, N30.95 and N10.87 per share, down from the previous N15.50, N34.35 and N12.06 per share.

On the volume index, FTG Insure led trading with 127 million shares in 1,523 transactions, followed by Access Holding Plc, which traded 48 million shares in 3,147 transactions.

Zenith Bank traded 39 million shares in 3,668 transactions.

On the value index, Aradel traded shares worth N5 billion in 2,619 transactions, followed by Zenith Bank, which traded equities worth N3.6 billion in 3,668 transactions.

NGX Group traded shares worth N2.4 billion in 3,543 transactions.
