Iran still stands and doubles down on non-military pressure | World News

Iran’s new supreme leader has tried to change the conflict – but his demands appear to be falling on deaf ears.

For five days there was much speculation regarding health Mojtaba Khamenei after he was reportedly injured in an airstrike on the first day of the war that killed his father, wife and son.

Now a long message has been read from the ayatollah on state television. The message doesn’t really answer questions about his health because we don’t see or hear from him.

But that explains it Iran are well aware that their main card is actually causing economic paralysis in the region, rather than winning the military battle Israel And American.

There is no doubt that Iran’s closure of an important oil shipping lane, the Strait of Hormuz, has been successful. And it won’t stop. At the same time Iran – and through its proxies in Lebanon, Hezbollah, still managed to launch missiles at Israel.

Now the supreme leader is demanding that his Gulf neighbors expel American troops from bases across the region. If yes, that is attack in many Gulf countries, from Bahrain to the United Arab Emirates, it will likely stop.

Iran has had years to devise a strategy to win this war. But their plans and the extent to which they attacked their neighboring countries have surprised many people.

From the Ayatollah’s statements today, it is clear that they know the tactic is working – and they plan to double down on non-military pressure threatening to ‘attack’ their enemies on ‘other fronts’.

This has the potential to impact sectors such as banking.

Their statements also make it clear that their narrative contains no notes of pragmatism – no notes of conciliation.

Of course, that was to be expected when we finally heard the first words from the man who was appointed leader of the regime.

A regime that still stands, and which appears to be increasingly accepted by Israel, will not fall any time soon.
