Israel’s President nominates Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize

Israeli President Isaac Herzog on Thursday praised his American counterpart, Donald Trump, for his role in brokering a deal between his country and the Palestinian militant group Hamas to end the war in Gaza.

Herzog said in X that Trump deserved the Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts.

“There is no doubt that he deserves the Nobel Peace Prize for this,” Herzog wrote and called the deal an opportunity to repair, heal and open new horizons of hope for our region.”

Trump previously announced that indirect negotiations in Egypt had yielded a breakthrough.

Under the first phase of the US peace plan, all hostages held in Gaza would be released, and Israeli forces would withdraw to agreed lines.

Hamas has confirmed its participation in the agreement.

Speaking recently at the UN General Assembly in New York, Trump said he had ended several wars since taking office earlier this year and should be recognized with the Nobel Peace Prize.

The Nobel Committee will announce this year’s winners on Friday
