General documents required for Italy visa application
- Download the visa application form and fill it out completely. You can also fill out the Italy visa application form electronically and then print a hard copy,
- Attached photos must be passport size – a recent full face capture with a clear background.
- Your passport and copies of your previous visas, valid for at least 3 months after the return date, are required. Applicants should be informed that the Italian Consulate will require a minimum of three (3) consecutive blank pages in your passport in order to issue a visa STICKER on your passport.
- A copy of your return ticket reservation. It is not recommended to purchase the ticket before obtaining the visa – unless necessary.
- Confirmation of travel medical insurance with a minimum amount of €30,000 of coverage in Italy and throughout the Schegen area.
- A cover letter specifying the purpose of the visit to Italy and the itinerary,
- Booking flight tickets
- Proof of civil status (marriage certificate, children’s birth certificate, spouse’s death certificate, ration card if applicable).
- Proof of accommodation for the duration of your stay in Italy.
- Proof of sufficient financial means for the duration of the stay. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Italy, the means of subsistence required for a foreigner applying for an Italian visa at an Italian embassy or consulate are as follows:
How to apply for a visa to Italy
ALL CANDIDATES MUST NOW PROVIDE THE NEW BIOMETRIC PASSPORTS.

- For stays up to 5 days: The total amount is €269.60/person and €212.81/two people or more.
- For stays of 6 to 10 days: The daily amount is €44.93/person and €26.33/two people or more.
- For stays of 11 to 20 days: The total amount is 51.64€/person and 25.82€/two people or more, plus the daily amount is 36.67€/person and 22.21€/two people or more.
- For stays of more than 20 days: The total amount is 206.58€/person and 118.79€/two people or more, plus the daily amount is 27.89€/person and 17.04€/two people or more.
Travel Health Insurance Declaration
Applicants for multiple-entry Schengen visas, regardless of their validity, will also need to provide a written guarantee that they will cover all successive trips with international health insurance valid for the intended travel period.
