The Democratic People’s Party (PDP) in the state of Jigawa has rejected the results of the election of the Federal Babura/Garki constituents, accusing the decision of all the progressive congress (APC) of the Election Malpractice.
The election, which was highly contested on Saturday between APC candidates, Rabi’u Mukhtar, and PDP Isa Auwalu, ended with the Independent National Election Commission (Inec) which declared Mukhtar as the winner on Sunday.
In a statement issued on Sunday, August 17, 2025, and was signed by the Secretary of the Party State Publicity, Umar Kyari, PDP said that he had “carefully examining the entire selection process, including preparation, behavior, and post-election activities” before deciding to reject the results.
The opposition party accused that APC “used the power of the state and spoiled a lot in the purchase of votes, voter intimidation and their harassment during training.”
Kyari stressed that “the results of the elections cannot be accepted by our party with a good conscience,” insisting that the mandate was freely given to the PDP by voters being damaged by the election malpractice.
Apart from his rejection of the results, PDP appealed to its members and supporters to remain calm. “We urge all our supporters to remain peaceful because we take all the actions needed to reclaim our stolen mandate,” the statement said.

The party also promised to pursue the legal and political channel to challenge the declaration of APC candidates, vowing to maintain what was described as the will of the people in the electoral district of Babura/Garki.
Kyari further enhanced concerns over the alleged role of APC supporters during the election, warning that “such actions erode democratic principles and subvert voters.” He asked the security agent to investigate the voting and voter intimidation claims.
PDP concluded its statement by appealing to the Election and Stakeholder Observer to support its search for justice and help reaffirm democratic values in the state of Jigawa.
