How can someone be this good?!
This channel just blows me away. Jimmy!!!
What a great guest!
What a monster drummer!
This guy is an absolute beast. Gonna have to revisit the old Pumpkins catalogue after seeing him execute some of these parts. Holy Guacamole this guy blew my mind
hero drummer, no more word
tell you what β¦ I hate jazz and iβve written parts that are similar

My fav drummer of all time, what a wall of sounds he makes!!
I'm not quite sure because the single strokes where what was on the album, but now what hes doing is much more advanced. I think I like the single stroke version better, but the new version is "completely out of the universe"
That was such a treat! Thank you Rick! Massive Pumpkins fan here from the beginning. Jimmy was very generous with his playing and his insights. This is one of the best interviews ever. Outstanding β€
I have been requesting and hoping that you would work on getting an interview with Jimmy since you got the first Matt Cameron interview , possibly even before! How did I miss this?? Havenβt watched it yet, but this is exciting!!
It's unbelievable how clean his playing is. 13 year old me is back in '95 right now, appreciating his playing so much more.
He truly shaped the sound of the Smashing Pumpkins. What a great intuitive drummer, always playing what the song demands. Very few can do that.
This is fantastic content. Jimmy does such a good job of explaining why the rudiments are important and the details of playing the instrument are fascinating. That stuff about proper technique and using those light sticks. He's a total nerd and absolutely loves it.
Ive been a life long fan of the pumpkins, billy and jimmy too. I was lucky to see them play at the metro and the museum of science and industry with zwan. @Rickbeato you know id like to see a episode of b-sides. The pumpkins always had great b-sides and that goes for a lot of other bands too.
I seriously hope he's right about creativity taking the wheel again, but I fear he gives humans more credit than they deserve. I'm sorry, but whether it be music, cinema/tv, books, painting, etc. we have become lazy and complacent. Its Do Me So Me Do. Simple, boring, and completely lacking individuality, but super easy to binge. Like fuggin pretzels. Salted cardboard.
Just a production point: I think Rick's interviews "show" better when he is on the right side and the artist/guest is on the left side.
Jimmy is a real pro!
Jimmy is one of the greatest of all time!!!!
I will never understand why no one ever mentions Bill Berry from REM. To me, his drum
parts are the most recognizable and essential parts of
any alternative band ever. In some ways, he is the Ringo Starr of classic alternative music drummers.
Radio free Europe, Laughing, Harborcoat, Feeling Gravity's Pull, Life and How to live it, Begin The Begin, Finest Worksong, The One I love, Orange Crush..I mean , cmon people, is anybody out there listening?
One of the most serious and baddass drummers I've ever heard…
Why is he getting younger by the way?
35 years and it's the most relaxed and personal Jimmy interview i've ever seen
Damn i just realized that i saw the jimmy chamberlain complex live 19 years ago, time flies too quickly
immense – what a legend – Best ever drummer in the world
Absolutely fantastic interview.
Love how much thought he puts into his playing. I admire him so much.
siamese dream is one of my albums. I just play on repeat over and over. I am also a drummer now I know why I like listening to Smashing Pumpkins just the drumming is great I love it I find myself playing like him on a lot of my songs Iβm even in his dead Band right now and yeah itβs fun playing Smashing Pumpkins drums in a dead band ππβ‘οΈπΉπ₯π¦π¨
Man, that was great! I loved it when Jimmy lit up at the mention of Zeitgeist as it's my favorite SP album.
Ya gotta get Abe Cunningham
Tone is in the hands. Drummer told me before about Moon sitting on Bonham's kit and it didnt sound the same.
I know nothing about drums but I always knew Jimmy was good. Until now, I had no idea how good. He lives dedication and itβs very inspiring to see.
JellyBelly was the first track on MC that gave me goose bumps and now I understand why!
Amazing interview with one of my favorite musicians of all time, JC drumming elevates most SP songs in a way no other instrument could
Just an awesome interview.
Thank you Rick, from the bottom of my bieng.
Waited to watch this until i knew it would have my undivided attention.
Those drums on United States…
my gosh..the nuances of his hit placement…man the drums on that song hit me hard every time.
Coming from someone that as a young man learned almost every damn pumpkins song on guitar..by ear mostly…so much so my friends and family occasionally called me "little Billy"
This was such a treat.
The Corgan interview was asweome..
But Jimmy is the pumpkins sound.
Billy owes so much to this man.
His exhibition towards the end is fucking dirty. He has a legendary single stroke roll.
So good to hear someone dedicated to the beats, listen to Siamese dream, it's all drumming!
If you like Jimmyβs playing you should check out Jimmy Chamberlin complex. Itβs an acid jazz ensemble.
My favorite drummer! A few of the only drummers that when you hear his playing you can tell is him.
How can you teach jimmy chamberlin
Glad this came out. I never really followed the pumpkins drummmer but remember thinking when i would hear them "man this guy is good". Incredible.
