Dar es Salaam – Defending champions JKT Queens retained their crown after defeating Simba Queens 2-1 to lift the Tanzania Women’s Community Shield 2025 at the Uhuru Stadium on Saturday.

Simba Queens pushed hard in the final minutes and were rewarded with a late consolation goal thanks to Ausensia, who scored in the 94th minute. However, it came too late to prevent JKT Queens from celebrating back-to-back Community Shield wins.
The victory marked JKT Queens’ second consecutive Community Shield title and fourth overall since the competition began seven seasons ago, a record that underlines their dominance of Tanzanian women’s football.
Having also won the Tanzania Women’s Premier League last season, JKT Queens head into the new campaign full of confidence and momentum as they aim to defend both crowns in the 2025/2026 season.
In the post-match ceremony, individual brilliance was recognized:
Winfrida Gerald (JKT Queens) was named Best Player of the Tournament.
Najat Abbas (JKT Queens) won the best goalkeeper award.
Jenianne Mukandayisenga (Yanga Princess) took home the top scorer award.
After the victory, the JKT Queens coach praised his team’s discipline and determination.
“The players showed real character and hunger to win. We are proud to start the new season with another trophy,” he said.
The exciting conclusion of the Community Shield sets the stage for the 2025/2026 Tanzania Women’s Premier League, which begins soon and promises another exciting season of women’s football across the country.
