The former national vice -president of the Democratic Party of people (PDP), the head of Olabode Ibiyinka George, appealed to the president Bola Tinubu, in the spirit of the anniversary of June 12, the governor Siminalayi smasher of the state of spinners.
Fubara was suspended from Tinubu on March 18 due to political tension in the supporting state.
Last week, Fubara visited Tinubu in Lagos during the celebration of the Sallah.
George, in an open letter to commemorate the 32nd anniversary of the presidential elections of 12 June 1993 won by the deceased Capo Mko Abiola, but canceled on June 23, 1993 by General Ibrahim Babangida, said: “If Tinubu could forgive the governor Babajide Sanwo-Oell of the State of Lagos, then he should extend the same gesture for Fubara”.
“On June 12 we will celebrate the day of democracy. This is a reminder of the true meaning of democracy – the will of the people.
“Since Tinubu has forgiven Sanwo-Oell, so it makes much sense, spiritually, to forgive Fubara also and let him return to the office. I am talking like an elderly person.
“Let me also remind the president who was at the forefront of those who fought the military, looking for a return to civil domain.
“I still remember that he came to my office in Aso Rock when he wanted to see General Diya. He was during the general regime of Sani Abacha. He wanted to be deputy in Olagunsoye Oyinlola in Lagos then.
“He discussed with Diya, but General Abacha in the end gave the position to the Mrs. Okunnu. I know how much the return to return to civil domain died. Later he joined Nadeco to fight for democracy. Some of those who fought by his side for democracy died. He did not die to be alive today.
“So, he should thank God, honor the memory of those who fought by his side for democracy and immediately return Fubara in office.
“I also appeal to him, in the spirit of my maternal grandfather who founded the first political party in Nigeria in 1922, Herbert Macaulay, to settle for restoring Fubara. Tinubu should listen and honor this appeal in memory of all those who died in the journey to our democracy”.
