Kaduna Bye Election Right Groups, Observatories greet Sani UBA

The electoral observers under the aegis of the coalition of the groups of rights and electoral monitors have described the bye elections recently concluded in the state of Kaduna as free, right and transparent, praising the performance of the independent national electoral commission (INC) and security agencies.

The groups, which have deployed monitors in different areas of the local government, said that the exercise has marked a considerable improvement in the democratic journey of Nigeria, with a high participation of the voters, transparency and peaceful conduct recorded in the electoral units.

In a joint declaration issued to Kaduna, the observers applauded the INC for the timely arrival of the electoral materials, the rigorous adhesion to the guidelines and the rapid electronic transmission of the results.

Dr. Amina Mohammed, spokesman for the Civil Rights and Democracy Watch (CRDW), said that the polls reflect the will of the people.

“Our observers reported minimal cases of irregularities and those were not significant enough to influence the overall result. Kaduna people spoke clearly and their votes counted,” he said.

In the same way, the network of electoral observers (neo) praised security agencies to guarantee order during the exercise.

The national coordinator of Neo, Peter Okafor, said that the security agents showed professionalism that reassured the voters and discouraged negligent practices.

“We observed professionalism from the security agents through the electoral units. Their presence has increased trust and contributed to the credibility of the process,” he said.

The coalition also congratulated the Governor UBA Sani for his victory to the polls, pushing him to bring with him all the interested parties in providing the dividends of democracy.

They also appealed to the opposition parties to respect the willingness of the electorate and work with the governor in the construction of a Pacific and Prospero Kaduna state.
