The New Nigeria Peoples Party has obtained the victory in the electoral college of the state of Bagwai/Shamano in the state of Kano, but has lost the additional elections in the electoral college of Ghari/Tsanyawa towards the Congress All Progressives.
By announcing the result of Bagwai/Shamano on Sunday, the return officer, Adamu Shitu, said Ali Hassan Kiyawa of the Nnpp winner with 16,198 votes, defeating Ahmad Muhammad Kadamu of the APC, which marked 5,347 votes.
The elections followed the death of the former APC legislator, Halilu Ibrahim Kundila, in April 2024.
On the contrary, the APC obtained the victory in the additional elections of Ghari/Tsanyawa. The return officer, Prof. Muhammad Waziri of Bayero University, Kano, declared the winner of Garba Ya’u Gwarmai with 31,472 votes, while Yusuf Ali Maigado del Nnpp has probed 27,931 votes.
The additional elections were conducted after the previous survey in the electoral college was declared inconclusive.
