Thursday the state government of Kebbi paid N422.1 million as registration fees for 2024/25 academic session for 6,127 States of the State who study at the University of Usmanu Danfodio Sokoto (Udu) and Federal University, Bernin Kebbi (Fubk).
The failure shows that N211.6 was paid for 3,922 students in Fubk, while N210.5 million were paid for 2,205 students in Udu.
The Commissioner for Higher Education, Isah Abubakar Tunga, gave the figures in a briefing of news to Birnin Kebbi.
He announced that governor Nasir Idris has given approval for the release of funds.
“The payment of the commissions was made directly to the bank accounts of the two universities.
“The processes are aimed at paying the registration commissions of the academic session of 2024/25 for all students who are indigenous of Kebbi, studying in other tertiary institutions throughout Nigeria.
“The gesture of the governor is to consolidate the political policy of the administration in charge to improve the education sector and facilitate the financial burden for parents,” said Tunga.
