The Kogi State Guardianship Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), led by Senator Danjuma Laah, has indefinitely postponed the party’s state constituency congress originally set for Saturday.
The suspension follows an incident in which a group of criminals stormed the party’s state secretariat and stole sensitive election materials.
The decision to suspend the congress was made in collaboration with the chairman of the congress committee, Boyelayefa Debeleme, according to a statement by the committee’s Publicity Secretary, Dayo Akande.
The statement said the attackers arrived in an 18-seater bus and other unmarked vehicles.

“All this happened in the presence of INEC observers. These unauthorized persons took away all sensitive materials meant for the congress in 239 wards of the 21 LGAs in the state,” Akande said.
The committee strongly condemned the theft and called on the National Election Commission (KPU) and other relevant bodies to disregard any results that may arise from the disrupted congress.
