Lady Helen, wife of the former chief of the Senate, Rowland Owie, dies at 71


The former chief whisk of the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Rowland Owie, announced the disappearance of his beloved wife, Lady Helen Owie (LSJi).

Lady Helen died at the age of 71.

He peacefully passed to Abuja on Wednesday 9 April 2025, in a short illness.

In a sincere declaration personally signed by Senator Owie, he reflected on their over 50 years of being together.

β€œHe united my family and treated my deceased mother, Agehatite Owie, who delivered 11 children for my father – of whom I am the only surviving child – with the deepest compassion and honor.

“He showed unshakable love for my family and friends and through his faith, strength and grace, he all kept us together.”

Describing her as a fearful woman of God, a great manager of resources and a devoted wife and mother, senator Owie added: β€œHelen was a real devote to the Blessed Virgin Mary.

β€œHis life was a testimony of humility, kindness and lasting service.

β€œIt was my pillar, my peace and my partner in all things.

“His peaceful strength and constant faith were the foundations of our family life.”

Lady Helen Owie survived her husband, children, grandchildren and a vast circle of dear people whose lives has touched deeply.

According to Owie, β€œthe family asks for prayers for the peaceful rest of her soul and invokes the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, MediaTrix of all graces, which can wrap Helen in her celestial blue cloak and present it gently to the throne of grace.

“Further ads regarding the rites and funeral agreements will be shared in debt time.”
