Lagos announces a two -day plan to divert traffic on Osborne …

The state government of Lagos has released a plan to divert the traffic around Osborne Road to Ikoyi, the local government Eti-Mosa for two days, in particular Friday 15 August on Sunday 17 August.

The commissioner for transport, Oluwaseun Osiyemmi said this in a statement on Tuesday in Lagos.

He said that the plan became necessary to minimize the interruption that will take place from the connection of the long modupe Alakija Crescent discharges to the exhausts along the median on Osborne Road.

“In line with the efforts to improve the drainage system on Modipe Alakija Crescent and its surroundings, it is necessary to connect the newly built exhausts, via an underground channel, to the underground channel under the median along Osborne Road.

“The construction of this underground channel requires the cut of a section of Osborne Road (before the Foreshore towers).

“The work should start by 22.00 on Friday 15 August and ends by midnight on Sunday 17 August,” he said.

He observed that a traffic management plan would have been implemented during the two -day period to minimize interruptions.

He said that this would entail a counterprintor along Osborne/Alfred Rewane Road, which extended about 100 meters from Modipe Alakija Crescent to Alfred Rewane Road Junction.

“Motorists who head towards Osborne Road by Alfred Rewane Road will be diverted to a lane of Contraftow Inbound Osborne Road, before reconnecting to their normal lane.

“Alfred Rewane Road’s incoming motorists from Osborne Road will be limited to a lane to allow the counterattack.

“For alternative routes, Osborne Road motorists who head towards Alfred Rewane Road should use Oba Adeyemi Oyekan Avenue to connect Glover Road, Lugard Avenue or Cameron Road to continue their journey.

“In the same way, motorists who head towards Osborne Road from Alfred Rewane Road should use Glover Road, Lugard Avenue or Cameron Road to connect Oba Adeyemi Oyekan Avenue before continuing their travels,” he said.

Osiyemi stressed that the road would be completely reopened on traffic on Monday 18 August.

He said that the Ministry of Transport, through Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (Lastma), would have managed the vehicular movements along the corridor to minimize the inconveniences.
