Lagos deepens the global thrust to help, African fashion (see pix)

In order to highlight the fashion and indigenous fabrics on the global phase, the state commissioner of Lagos for tourism, art and culture, Mrs. Take Benson-Awoyinka, recently hosted a high-level meeting with His Majesty Ronke Ademiluyi-Gunwusi, founder of Africa Fashion Week London and Nigeria, alongside Depice British Deputy, Mr. Baxter.

The strategic commitment focused on the advancement of the cultural and economic potential of the fabrics to to, an iconic Yoruba fabric, as an important export and symbol of the rich inheritance of Nigeria.

During the high-level meeting Mrs. Benson-Awoyinka reaffirmed the unshakable support of Lagos State for creative platforms that enhance the designers, preserve cultural identity and contribute significantly to the state economy.

He underlined that these partnerships are fundamental in amplifying African narratives and the positioning of Lagos such as the heartbeat of fashion and creativity on the continent.

“While the fashion and creative capital of Nigeria, Lagos remains a catalyst for innovation, style and business. We are proud to support initiatives that promote our cultural resources and inspire the next generation of creatives,” he said.

The commissioner described the meeting as a big step forward in promoting fashion and African fashion at a global level, also underlining the commitment of the Lagos state for the cultural conservation and the growth of the creative sector.

During the meeting, there were discussions on the celebration of the 15th edition of Africa Fashion Week in London, a milestone result for the global African fashion movement.
