The construction in progress of 2,000 housing units, renewed Hope City, in Ibeju Lekki, Lagos, has reached the completion of 80 %.
The Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Arc. Ahmed Musa Daniwa, who revealed it during an inspection visit to the site on Thursday 28 August, said that the city will soon be ready for the presidential inauguration.
“The Ibeju Lekki project has renewed the Hope City project is completed 80 %, with over 700 housing units pursuant to the one -handed phase ready for putting in service,” said Daniwa, adding that the foundation for the second phase of Lagos has renewed Hope City Houses will be made by the president after the commissioning of the 700 units of the first phase.
“Lagos renewed Hope City, when completely completed, would have provided 2,000 housing units. The project underlines the commitment of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to fill the living deficit in Nigeria,” he said.
Noting that the administration of President Bola Tinubu is currently building seven renewed cities of hope, one in each geo-political area and FCT, Daniwa said: “The renewed Hope Cities and Summers”, aims to provide decent and convenient accommodation for the Nigerians.
As part of its Lagos tour activities, the Minister visited the Economic Commerce area Lekki and was conducted by the CEO, Lekki Worldwide Investments Ltd, Adeniyi Akinlusi. He has inspected various housing projects, industries, construction materials, test workshops, the deep city, the city of Alaro, the coastal city of Lagos and other developments in progress.
Daniwa praised investments all over the world Lekki for providing a strategic site for the production center of the building materials of the federal government within the free trade area of Lekki. He explained that the ministry planned to establish six building production hubs, one in each geopolitical area, aimed at reducing housing production costs through the facilitation of the production of local construction materials.
They revealed that an investor has already been guaranteed for the production HUB project, which will cut Nigeria’s living deficit by increasing the local production of building materials.
“The hub will promote local content, stop the costs of increasing materials, encourage domestic production and guarantee a sustainable housing delivery at national level,” he revealed.
Daniwa said that the intermodal transport infrastructure in Lekki, including a maritime, airport, railway and roads, will support the effectiveness of the hubs, adding that the infrastructure attracts real estate investments, since homes are necessary to support these developments.
Previously, the MD/CEO of Lekki Worldwide Investments Ltd, Adeniyi Akinluli, informed the minister on projects, observing that the free area has been designed to stimulate growth, reduce imports, attract investments, create jobs and increase homes.
In the renewed Hope City site, the executive director, loans and mortgages, Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN), dr. Muhammad Abdul, said that Ibeju Lekki houses are designed to be convenient and accessible to workers and cooperative companies, with the bank that provides the lowest interest rates in the market.
During the inspection of Alaro City, in the Lekki area, the minister praised the sustainable construction efforts of the management, saying that he aligns the government plan to fill the housing of Nigeria
