The Lagos Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC) on Friday intercepted a truck loaded with styrofoam wrappers in the Ojuelegba area of โโthe state.
The state government in January banned the use and distribution of Styrofoam and other single-use plastics across the state as they pose a threat to the environment.
Styrofoam is a raw material for producing disposable plates used in restaurants.
LAGESC Public Relations Officer, Mr. Ajayi Lukman, confirmed this in a statement in Ikeja.

He said the Mercedes-Benz 814 truck with Reg. No. AJK 140 LG, loaded with styrofoam worth about โฆ2 million belonged to a Cameroonian national.
He added that the owner claimed the truck was carrying goods through Akwa-Ibom to be sold in the Central African country.
