LASUSBAS successfully organizes the entrance exam for the JUPEB 2024/2025 program

The Lagos State University School of Basic and Advanced Studies โ€“ Joint Universities Preliminary Examination Board (LASUSBAS JUPEB) has successfully conducted the entrance examination for the JUPEB programme for the 2024/2025 session.

The quest for direct admission into Lagos State University through the Aโ€™Level route drove hundreds of parents and guardians and their wards to Topo town in the old town of Badagry on Saturday, September 14, 2024 for the entrance examination into the School of Basic and Advanced Studies, Lagos State University โ€“ Joint Universities Preliminary Examination Board (LASUSBAS JUPEB) scheme.

As early as 8am, admission seekers, accompanied by their parents, had begun to throng the sleepy town, eager to secure a place in the highly competitive one-year programme which, upon successful completion, would guarantee a student admission into the 200 level of his or her programme of choice in Nigeriaโ€™s top state university โ€“ LASU.

The programme staff, led by the Director, Prof. Yunus Adeleke Dauda, โ€‹โ€‹Deputy Director, Dr. Ronke Saibu, and Assistant Director, Dr. Waheed Akingbade, were on hand to welcome the prospective students, brief them and register them into their respective examination rooms before the exercise commenced at exactly 11am.

About an hour and a half later, the candidates, divided into three main disciplines โ€“ Arts, Management Sciences (Business) and Sciences โ€“ completed the multiple-choice exam, after which they were taken care of by the programme managers.

However, an important meeting with parents had to take place first. During the parents-school meeting, the Principal, Prof. Dauda, โ€‹โ€‹congratulated the parents for the opportunity given to their wards to be admitted to the Jupeb programme of LASUSUBAS, which he said is one of the best in the country. He spoke about the competitiveness of the one-year programme and the hard work required for a student to succeed and gain admission to the university, urging parents not to abandon their wards at school.

He, however, assured parents that given the quality and quantity of staff at the school and the excellent performance of its students in previous Jupeb examinations, their children are in good hands. He thanked the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, for creating an environment conducive to educating students of the highest quality.

The Deputy Director and Assistant Directors, along with the Directors of various centres in the school, also had the opportunity to develop guidelines that would help parents successfully integrate their children into the system, when they are finally admitted.

Some parents, in their comments, appreciated the school for the facilities put in place to make the program useful.

The new session will begin later this month (September) and the entrance exam results are expected to be released within a week, according to the school.
