Several guests at a wedding party were feared killed on Saturday when a female suicide bomber detonated an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in Gwoza town, Borno State.
Many others also suffered serious injuries at the wedding venue in Tashan Mararaba in Gwoza town.
One of the survivors told reporters that the bomber stormed the venue carrying a baby on his back and detonated the bomb.
However, the number of fatalities has not yet been confirmed, while the injured are still receiving treatment at hospitals in the city.
Gwoza, a border town about 135 kilometers southeast of Maiduguri, has seen several attacks from Boko Haram insurgents in recent years.
Considered a notorious hideout for insurgents who arrived in the area in 2009 from Maiduguri, Gwoza has suffered considerable violence from the insurgency and in 2014, witnessed an influx of Boko Haram fighters fleeing the Sambisa Forest.
