As Christians in Nigeria and around the world commemorate the Easter season, a message of hope, sacrifice and renewal has been extended to the people of Ogun State and Nigerians at large.
Former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Dr Tunde Lemo in his Easter message said Easter, beyond its religious significance, served as a profound reminder of the power of sacrifice, the triumph of hope over despair and the enduring certainty that renewal is always possible through determination and resilience.
Lemo, a strong contender for governor of Ogun State, says the sacrifices made in recent years by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration are starting to yield positive results, particularly in the areas of stability and economic growth.
He noted that while current increases in energy costs, largely driven by external factors, may momentarily slow the full realization of these gains, he speculated that they are viewed as a temporary phase that would ease in due course.
He encouraged Nigerians to embrace the core values symbolized by Easter, including love, tolerance, unity and selfless service.
According to him, these virtues remain essential in the collective effort to build a stronger Nigeria and a more prosperous Ogun State where every individual has the opportunity to thrive.
He added that since Easter marked the resurrection of Jesus Christ, it also presented an opportunity for Nigerians to renew their hope in good governance, strengthen mutual trust and reaffirm their shared commitment to building a better future.
Lemo said: “Easter is more than a celebration, it is a reminder of the power of sacrifice, the triumph of hope over despair and the certainty that renewal is always possible, through determination and resilience.
“In the spirit of this season, we recognize the foresight and courage of our President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR. The sacrifices of the last three years are beginning to bear fruit in terms of economic stability and growth. While the current surge in energy costs – largely exogenous – may appear to delay the full benefits of these reforms, this is a temporary phase that will pass in due course.”
He also prayed: “May this Easter rekindle in us the virtues of love, tolerance, unity and selfless service. May it also strengthen our resolve to build a Nigeria and Ogun State, where every citizen can prosper.”
Lemo advised citizens to embrace hope, saying: “As we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ, let us also resurrect our hope in good governance, renew our trust in each other and reaffirm our determination to build the future we deserve – for we are more than conquerors.”
