Like Nigeria has generated the highest electricity ever in its history – TCN

Tuesday Nigeria generated 5,801 electricity megawatts, the highest ever by the country whose citizens make fun of themselves incessant Current interruptions.

The head of the Nigeria transmission companyOn Abdulaziz, he revealed it to the State House, Abuja, Thursday.

“… For the first time in the history of our nation, the energy sector has recorded a new and unprecedented peak generations of 5,801.84 megawatts of electricity on March 4, 2025, at 21:15,” he said

Abdulaziz said that its state -owned TCN has successfully transmitted all generated electricity.

“The Nigeria transmission company (TCN) has effacuated this mass power to the national level distribution centers in an efficient way.”

He said that this unprecedented company is the result of the hard work and dedication of our engineers, in the generation companies, transmission and distribution of the value chain of the energy sector.

Background

In November 2013, the Federal Government privatized the entire generation of energy and 11 distribution companies, with the government that maintains the property of the transmission company. This is to improve efficiency in the sector.

Thursday, Abdulaziz has explained the numerous TCN transmission projects completed in the last two years and new currently underway, as well as the current evacuation capabilities of the company of 8,500 MW.

He said in less than two years, the TCN will comfortably evacuate the power generated by 10,000 megawatts.

Speaking of the results of the Commission, he said that the main discoveries are the installation and commissioning at the service of sixty -six transformers of numerical power.

“We have equally built new transmission sub-institutions and re-conduct transmission project projects among others. Some projects have been carried out under projects sponsored by the World Bank which are oriented to the increase in the capacity of TCN 9000 mva. “

Currently, he said that the projects for an amount of 6000 MVAs have been completed and connected to the grid, including the Rimin Zakara subostation in New Kano.

He observed that the World Bank is also financing the update of some Brownfield subostation projects.

“Another project of Agenzia di Donori in TCN are the projects financed by AFD who completed five transmission subsits to Abuja, two have been energized. AFDB is also performing the new DC Kano-Kaduna 330kV transmission line with 330kv subostation in Zaria and a 132kv subostation in Jaji, in the Kaduna state simultaneously among others.

“The Federal Government Power projects that supervise the execution of the Siemens project have provided a total of 10 mobile subsctations, 7 of which were installed,” he added.

According to him, ten other transformers of various assessments were also installed in the transmission network and grid connected.

He also explained that the projects of the Federal Government have further contributed to the increase in TCN’s ability while the projects are delivered to TCN to complete.

“The projects of the federal government already performed have added 1350 MW to the grid. Our progress is also evident in the 76.47 percent reduction of network disorders in the last five years.

“However, to allow us to manage the grid in the absence of supervision and data acquisition control (Scada) in progress, we have developed the sensitivity system to the load fall of generation (GLDS), which detects and responds to sudden falls in the generation of energy, preventing cascade failures. Furthermore, all our subsmeations have been completely digitized and automated, “he added.

In order to reduce inactivity times and improve efficiency, he said: “We have undertaken a complete supply of the central stores of TCN. We had the largest supply of transmission equipment in the history of TCN, including 22 power transformers and other accessories, most of which have been moved to various project sites.

“Currently, we have 6, 150 MVA and 5nus 100 transformers MVA, 132 kV insulators, 110 V cc battery banks, transport truck, 132 kV switches, current transformers and voltage transformers, among others in our central shop in Lagos,” he said.
