Loom Ethnic Crisis: Arewa Vanguard accumulated to attacks on CFO nnpcl, segun,
Abuja (basic reporter) A group under the auspicies of Arewa Progressive Vanguard (APV), has warned against the imminent ethnic crisis if the attacks on the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of the Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), AdeDapo Segun, is Checkmated.
APV, a group of socio -political network cut through the 19 northern states of the Federation and in the diaspora; Called individuals, groups and associations, orchestral these unfortunate attacks on AdaDapo Segun to refrain from further attacks to him.
Mr. Segun, who was appointed CFO in November 2024, was under serious attacks by various groups, with some who dragged him to court while others interrogated the commission for economic and financial crimes (EFCC), for not having included it in its continuous probe on the bad management of the Financial Funds of Port Harcourt.
But in a declaration signed on Thursday by Alhaji Idris Musa, global president of APV, the group accused those who asked for the resignation of Mr. Segun, warning against distractions and ventilating the embers of ethnic crises.
The group also stressed that NNPCL is a very versatile and sensitive society and a man capable of a Chief Financial Officer deserves every sense of calm, serenity and peace, of being able to perform optimally in his duties.
“We read a few days ago, in which a group was even accusing the EFCC of the selective probe. They said it was because Mr. AdeDao Segun is a man from Yoruba, that’s why the Antigraft agency isolated him from the ongoing probe.
“We consider a comment as myopic, insensitive and highly inflammatory. We are known reliable and international organization known for the progress of peace, unity and development in the northern region. As a responsible group, we make bold in saying that these comments should not come from a northern group.
“Corruption does not know the tribe or the region. And the EFCC is a competent and professional organization that does not need validation from any group before carrying out its work. If Mr. Segun is guilty, I am sure that the EFCC will not let him go. But we should also be sensitive not to cause problems where not necessary.
“Therefore, we ask those who came to fan the embers of ethnic crisis to be abstain if immediately. We were there before and we cannot afford another civil war in Nigeria. We should be patients with the institutions authorized for investigations and judicial proceedings. We should desist from the tests of social media. An instability.
The Arewa group, however, said that Mr. Segun will not be spared if the investigations find him guilty. But for the main time, “people or groups should not be used as tools for blackmail and sabotheur”.
