Magic de Mateta delays the Liverpool title party as Arsenal Palace in the Emirates

The celebration of the title of the Premier League of Liverpool was momentarily stopped on Wednesday night, since Arsenal was arrested in a dramatic 2-2 draw of the Crystal Palace at Emirates Stadium.

This result means that the reds now need only one point against Tottenham on Sunday to ensure a 20th English high flight crown of record equality.

The goals of Jakub Kiwior and Leandro Trosssard gave Arsenal the advantage twice, but Eberrechi Eze and Jean-Philippe Mateta attacked for the palace.

Arsenal’s manager Mikel Arteta did not put the words after the game:

“We leave our standards today and credit to the Crystal Palace. We struggle to find consistency in the game.”

“We leave the ball simply and arrive late to everything we did. I am disappointed.”

The hosts flew outside the blocks early, with Kiwior in a short distance direction in the third minute.

However, the Palace, with one eye in the semifinal confrontation of the Saturday FA Cup against Aston Villa, showed no signs of distraction.

They were leveled through a sublime volley of Eze in the 27th minute, they were perfectly placed in a corner of Adam Wharton that bounced in the post.

Trosssard restored Arsenal’s advantage in the 42nd minute, crowning an elegant movement with a fresh finish.

But despite their intention to attack, the gunners never seemed safe on the back, and their fragility was exposed late.

In the 83rd minute, William Saliba’s passing pass left Martin Ødegaard in trouble, and Mateta, who had just left the bench, pounced.

The striker produced an impressive 30 -yard chip about a fight to David Raya to level the game.

“It was not our goal to decide the title, our goal was to win the game,” said the palace manager, Oliver Glasner, later.

“I think a raffle is a very good result. More important is the performance. We are back on the track.”

“It is important to maintain this energy and confidence for the semifinal on Saturday.”

The result leaves Arsenal secondly at 67 points, while Liverpool sits at the top with 79, a single point on Sunday in Anfield is now all that separates them from glory.

For Crystal Palace, which remains 12, the energetic exhibition serves as a massive impulse before its FA Cup mission.
