Dr. Akinwunmi Adhesina states that serving as president of African Development Bank (AFDB) is the greatest honor of his life.
Adhesina said this during a breakfast meeting that held the media to declare the Annual AFDB 2025 meetings in Abidjan.
“It was a decade of relentless purpose, of lasting passion and tireless service. Thank you for walking on this trip with me,” he said.
Adhesin, an economist of Nigerian development and agricultural development expert has become president of the bank 10 years ago.
This was after having held the role of Minister of Agriculture of Nigeria from 2011 to 2015, transforming the sector by attracting investments in the private sector and supporting small and medium -sized enterprises (SMEs).
Adhesin is dedicated to the transformation of agriculture to Africa from a subsistence activity to a practicable company that attracts investments.
He is also passionate about ending poverty, hunger and malnutrition in Africa and the lifting of millions of people in the middle class.
