Police officers in Ogun have arrested Adekunle Adebajo over the alleged murder of a suspected member of a rival cult group in Ijebu Ode area of the state.
Spokesperson of the state police command, Omolola Odutola, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday in Abeokuta.
He said: “Concerned citizens made a distress call to the Divisional Police Station, Igbeba, on August 12, and reported that rival sects were fighting each other, during which the victim, identified as ‘Mosquito’, “was shot, stabbed with a machete, and his left hand was cut off and taken by his killers.
“Adebajo, popularly known as ‘Kunle Polly,’ suspected to be one of the killers, was arrested at 12:03am at his hideout in Isiwo, Ijebu.
“During interrogation, Kunle Polly admitted to being a member of the Eiye association.
“This prompted a search of his residence, which resulted in the discovery of a Beretta pistol along with six live rounds of ammunition, two UTC axes and some ammunition.
“The investigation is still ongoing to uncover the pattern of the victim’s left hand cutting and to catch other perpetrators who escaped from hiding.”
